Fager Irma 100% Merino Wool Wrist Warmers by Öjbro

"Fager" is the Swedish word for "Beauty" and Iris of course is the tri petal purple and yellow flower described by poets and lovers throughout history.  Iris takes its name from the Greek word for rainbow, which is also the name for the Greek goddess of the rainbow, Iris.  So it is only fitting that the owner designer Åse Öjbro has created wearable mitten art  (Åse was also an artist of paints and palette for over 20 years before deciding to express her art in wool).

She has created a panoramic flower pattern on the back of the hand showing flower, stem and supporting leaves.  The inside palm has an alternating steel lavender, purple, and teal blue finger flag with  a nail dot pattern set off by an alternating small v-shaped uniform patterns of lice "lusemonsters" believed to protect from evil spirits.  "I love flowers, especially the Iris which is part of our home garden every spring and I thought why not design winter mittens with spring flowers,"  Åse confided, "and I adapted one of my paintings to a smaller canvas."

Knitted in Sweden in Ted Öjbro's small family factory of 100% ORGANIC merino wool.

WARNING: These are 100% Merino Wool--which is known for its softness -- so you must protect the wool as you would cashmere or any other delicate fabric. If you intend to use these for any kind of winter sport or abrasive activity, you should use choppers or over mitts to protect the soft warm wool and prevent wool damage.
