Dachstein Woolwear is a line of 100% wool clothing made in Austria. In a small village, nestled in the mountains, Hermann, a renaissance man in his own right, and his family make knitwear in small batches using the traditional alpine technique of boiling knit wool garments down until they are dense enough to keep out the cold with added wind and water resistance. This boiled or felted wool is used to make some of the warmest sweaters, mittens, gloves, socks, and caps, and has been the gold standard among mountaineers and explorers for decades.
Norlender was founded in 1927 by Ola Tveiten on the west coast of Norway. In 1947, the business moved to Hosanger, on the side of the stunning Osterfjord. To get more history, read the legend of Ola.
Today, Norlender is run by Ola's granddaughter Astrid Tveiten. Her Knitwear Designs are based on the rich Norwegian knitting heritage, where the cold climate has been the driving force highlighting the superior qualities of pure wool. Being a third generation family business, Norlender is proud to continue this textile tradition and to share it with people across the globe.
